STEP 1 – Admission Process

All candidates will need to:

  • Complete program application. Download Here
  • Schedule your visit with our program directors!
  • At the appointment you will need to:
    • Bring official transcripts – It should have the degree conferred date from an accredited institute. You will need a 2.5 overall GPA or 2.5 in your last 60 hours. Our program will evaluate your transcripts and counsel you regarding the options that you have to enter the classroom. We want to let you know all of your options so you can make an informed decision.
  • Watch a brief video that outlines program components. Our staff is there to answer any questions you may have.
  • Take the critical thinking test – This test gives us information about your test taking skills – there is no failing
    score – only information to help you make an informed decision!
  • Demonstrate competence in oral communication as per interview. TOEFL exam required for candidates that
    completed their education out of country.
  • Demonstrate content mastery – ACT will review your transcripts and counsel you on selecting your teaching
    pathway in reference to what is most marketable in our area.
  • Once all program requirements have been met, you can apply to our program and pay the $75 application fee,
    which includes the mandated TEA technology fee.

STEP 2 - Candidacy

  • ​PREVIEW / REGISTER / STUDY / PASS: TEXES Exam!
    • REMINDER: Our program offers practice tests for self assessment and diagnostic purposes for most exams AT NO ADDITIONAL COST to approved applicants.
  • Once you have passed all content TExES exams, you can be considered FORMALLY ADMITTED when you enroll in Institute Training.
  • Complete the state mandated 30 hours of field based experiences. These activities include: volunteering, observations, and viewing approved instructional videos.
  • Once you have completed all the above prerequisites, you are now considered JOB READY. We will send you a JOB READY Letter so you can start networking and applying for teaching positions.

STEP 3 – Two Semester Teaching Internship OR 14 Week Clinical Teaching

Two SEMESTER INTERNSHIP

  • Once you secure a teaching position, you must contact our office to begin your internship.
  • You will earn a full-time salary paid by the employing school district.
  • Your internship fee will be set up through monthly automatic bank drafts.
  • At the end of your first year, and you have successfully met all the district, state, and program requirements, you will be recommended for your standard certificate and considered a fully certified teacher in the state of Texas.

14 WEEK CLINICAL TEACHING

  • Complete application by posted deadline and complete all elements of candidacy.
  • Clinical teaching assignments will be made by participating districts for a length of 14 weeks.
  • Half of your clinical teaching fee is due with the application; the second half is due 6 weeks later.
  • At the end of your 14 week session, and you have successfully met all the district, state, and program requirements, you will be recommended for your standard certificate and considered a fully certified teacher in the state of Texas.

♦ INTERNSHIP:
Internship fee: $3695 – Payable by automatic bank draft, cash, check, or money order - Includes all training materials and a Field Supervisor. Our guarantee to you is that you will have personal contact, feedback and guidance by our trained Supervisor throughout your first year.
♦ CLINICAL TEACHING:
Clinical teaching fee: $3695 – $1850 due with application and the second half due 6 weeks later. Payable by check, money order, or cash, which includes all training materials and a Field Supervisor. Our guarantee to you is that you will have personal contact, feedback and guidance by our trained, certified Supervisor throughout your 14 week assignment.
