Rae Queen

Program Director

Rae has always had a passion for students with special needs and has been able to serve that population through a variety of experiences. She has worked with various school districts on consulting projects from making improvements to programming for students with special needs to preparing first year special education teachers for the classroom. She has worked the ARC, and Special Olympics, and presented at various conferences, including the National Conference for the Council for Exceptional Children. Rae has also been a special education classroom teacher in Spring ISD, Birdville ISD, and Northside ISD. She has taught remedial classes at the community college level and special education courses at the University level. While working in the alternative certification office at the university level, she and a group of colleagues decided they could create a better way to access teaching. As a result, 5 years ago, ACT.RGV was created, one of the first private alternative certification programs. ACT.RGV has successfully certified over 1000 teachers in the Rio Grande Valley and is now successfully operating in Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio.

Rae received a B.S. in Education, a M.Ed. in Educational Psychology, and her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology with an emphasis on secondary special education all from Texas A&M University (Whoop!).
